Yeah, the thing that really confused me is the mention at the end of the story about how they are training a beagle named "Python Pete" to help them track these sort of feral snakes in the wilderness.
My thought was "A *beagle*!?!? Are you serious?" Don't you think that's like a McNugget to a python? Bite-sized, at best.
If it were me, I'd train something bigger that wouldn't get swallowed after the first two barks. Like maybe Chewbacca.
